Neumünster. – In its 60th exhibition year, the NordBau in Neumünster once more opens its doors in an attractive and modern manner. The North German classic trade fair is booked out for the 14th time in a row and has since become one of the most successful trade fairs for the entire construction process in Germany and Northern Europe.

For the 60th year, the organizers expect over 900 exhibitors and about 60,000 visitors at the Holstenhallen exhibition grounds. Looking back, despite many changes in previous years – new exhibition days, new construction and renovation projects – the trade fair has remained loyal, confirmed Dirk Iwersen, the current managing director of the municipal company like his predecessor and father, Peter. Since the mid-nineties, the NordBau has been given a facelift and developed into a construction showcase – be it structural or civil engineering – for the entire Northern European market. For added flair, it is not seen as a pure sales event but as a coveted construction networking opportunity. Iwersen confirmed that year after year, the motto for the trade fair’s philosophy is “We communicate with each other here.”
The always booked out events has become a long tradition of the exhibition. Therefore, from the beginning there is interest from the Committee for Modern Construction for exhibitors and co-designers with special shows. For 40 years the Danish community show “Denmark: intelligent building practically – effectively” is an attraction for visitors and developers. In the 60th exhibition year, other traditional exhibitors and seminars will celebrate this special birthday. Iwersen also pointed out the good cooperation between the advisory committee and exhibitors. As a result, a training program was created, which as a result of its quality cannot be topped. The subjects were selected based on the end user.
The focus will be on craftsmen, architects but also on construction machines manufacturers or building material manufacturers amongst others. Each year, there are about 4,000 participants attending about 40 seminars. Of these, two thirds are recognized as an official advanced training from the Chamber of Architects and Engineers. This year, the focus is particularly on the architects. The main topic of this event will be “Architects as the developer’s advocate.” So “architects’ awareness of space” and they are thus the decisive idea provider from the planning to execution of new construction or renovating and modernising of residential property. These topics are traditionally reflected in numerous exhibitions of the North German trade fair. The focal point of the building policy – not only in Schleswig-Holstein – is an urgent investment in a modern and efficient infrastructure to be able to meet future traffic flows. Bridge renovation and new construction is a main topic that is the focus in the event program NordBau this year. A fast and high-quality renovation of dilapidated bridges will provide sufficient material for discussion.
Which machine technology is best suited for this will be demonstrated by construction equipment dealers and manufacturers in the outdoor area. The nationwide comprehensive construction machinery presentation will be made there this year to professionals and visitors. Iwersen pointed out that the NordBau always compile topics for the agenda together with the exhibitors and users that are relevant to the implementation of the current building projects.
On approximately 69,000 m2 of outdoor area and over 20,000 m2 of hall space, every year the industry platform in the north offers over 900 exhibitors space to present the entire spectrum of construction with modern building materials and components, powerful machines, municipal machines and attachments for construction and trade as well as the latest energy technology.
