67th NordBau Neumünster with special show of the Holzbauzentrum*Nord

(Neumünster) From September 7 to 11, 2022, NordBau will be held at the Holstenhallen Neumünster exhibition center in Schleswig-Holstein, and Holzbauzentrum*Nord in Kiel will be the organizer of a special show covering more than 750sqm and including other exhibitors, the show is entitled “Building and renovating with wood – healthy living, climate-friendly, regional”.

“Healthy living”, “climate-friendly” and “regional” are the fundamental aspects for building and renovating with wood or finishing interiors with wood. In addition to sustainability and comfort, regionality is increasingly important for those in favour of this natural building material. The special show in Hall 8 will demonstrate the usability of the renewable raw material – from the tree to the building structure – for building owners and for the processing companies as well as planning architects. The timber construction related industry partners are on site with current solutions and products for carpenters and wood builders, roofers, architects and engineers, carpenters and interior designers. In addition, a daily stage program presents sample demonstrations of the manufacturers for processing and product novelties. The range of the timber construction shows on the one hand a modern wood carport. Here, various possible options of uses are presented – as an optimal addition to a terraced house or detached house plot: solar system variations, charging stations for e cars/bikes/appliances, storage of garden tools, equipment and bicycles. On the other hand, the multi-storey wooden construction will be shown using models of up to 18 floors. In the context of the advanced training program of the NordBau, Gerrit Horn, technical book author, master carpenter and expert, will lecture about the timber frame construction at the timber construction day on 8 September – from the basic knowledge up to concrete construction details.

NordBau will also offer information and advice for homeowners and tradesmen at a comprehensive advice point on the new Energy Transition and Climate Protection Act, which must be implemented from July 2022. In Hall 7, partner associations and exhibitors will be available as contacts for private homeowners as well as landlords of apartments and owners of commercial properties. The focus here is particularly on the new requirements for renewable energy installations when replacing defective heating equipment. Precaution and planning are essential preconditions for countering cost-intensive surprises in the event of equipment failure.

With hydrogen technology in Hall 6, NordBau is also focusing on another topic of the future, but one that is already in the spotlight of planning and expansion processes. Questions that move both voluntary and full-time representatives of cities and municipalities: How can hydrogen be generated? How can it be stored and transported, and how can it be used as an energy carrier? Which pipeline networks can be used? How should they be upgraded if home heating is to be powered by hydrogen in the future? What are the realistic time frames for implementation with hydrogen in industry, mobility and heating? Who as a company is already using this technology today?

Figures, data and facts

With around 69,000 square meters of outdoor exhibition space and over 20,000 square meters of indoor exhibition space, NordBau is considered the most important compact construction trade fair in northern Europe and the entire Baltic Sea region. Annually up to 800 exhibitors from 13 countries meet about 63,000 visitors. More than 50 seminars and events register a total of 4,300 conference participants, with two-thirds of the conferences being recognized by the SH Chamber of Architects and Engineers as official training.

Since 1956, exhibitors have used NordBau to reach both the numerous trade visitors and end customers (both public and private builders). NordBau has a high level of acceptance and appeal for all those interested in construction and for those working in the construction industry. Furthermore, NordBau has been closely associated with the partner country Denmark for more than 45 years, which sees the
trade fair as the basis for the German and European market.
