One of the UK’s largest proposed construction and trade show events, The Build Show, has welcomed new government support for the construction industry in the wake of the 2014 budget. Not only has more money been earmarked for future residential and commercial projects, but plans have already been drawn up for specific projects such as the new Ebbsfleet garden city to be built in Kent.
The fact that the budget has contained so many provisos aimed specifically at supporting the UK’s construction industry is a definite nod to the fact that the UK has one of the world’s fastest growing economies, which owes a great deal to the sector and to house building in particular.
Positive Boost for Local Industry
It’s no wonder that the Build Show would welcome these types of budgetary announcements, because they have major implications for the future of the construction industry – both in general terms and for specific companies and individuals. Even peripheral outfits, such as Scot JCB, also look set to reap the rewards of a budget drawn up to support the revitalisation of an industry which had been suffering greatly under austerity measures.
Cuts to VAT
The Build Show may have shown its support for the budget, but its organisers aren’t stopping there. Earlier this year they also declared their support for the ‘Cut the VAT Campaign’, which seeks to reduce the amount of VAT payable on maintenance and home improvement work, in order to improve economic growth and further promote the creation of a culture of sustainable building and urban regeneration. The Campaign’s points won’t be considered until the 2015 General Election, however the movement has already garnered significant support from more than 60 charities, business groups and financial and trade associations.
About The Build Show
The Build Show is set to take place in Birmingham in 2015, and is intended to be a dedicated trade show intended to unify the construction industry over three days of training, networking and business development. With big-name media backers, such as The Sun, and an extensive programme which includes talks, seminars, demonstrations, training and a sumptuous gala dinner, it looks as though The Build Show will be the largest and most dedicated platform for builders and constructors staged in the past 5 years. There’s still time to register as either an exhibiter or a visitor by using their simple online registration form.
