The Association of Researchers in Construction Management (ARCOM) is an international community that drives research and innovation in construction management. Founded in 1984, the organisation brings together academics, researchers, students, consultants, and industry professionals. Its goal is simple: support high-quality research and strengthen the global construction management community.
Each September, ARCOM hosts the ARCOM Conference, its main annual event. Since 2004, delegates from around 47 countries have joined the conference, which shows its strong global reach.
The ARCOM Conference welcomes anyone interested in construction management research. You can attend as a presenter or simply join as a delegate. All submitted papers go through a strict double-blind review process. This approach ensures high academic standards and encourages original and robust research. After the conference, ARCOM publishes all accepted papers in the ARCOM Abstracts Database, giving the public open access to the work.
Beyond the main conference, ARCOM offers seminars and doctoral workshops. These smaller events support deeper discussions, collaborative learning, and high-quality academic output. Leading researchers from the social sciences and management fields often contribute to these sessions.
ARCOM also invests in researcher development. The International Mentorship Scheme connects early-career researchers with experienced academics. The Travel Grant Scheme helps members attend key events, build networks, and share knowledge. Members can also access newsletters, publications, and a wide research archive. These resources keep the community informed and engaged throughout the year.
