(Neumünster) From September 10–14, 2025, the 70th NordBau once again invites construction professionals and enthusiasts to Northern Europe’s largest industry gathering at the Holstenhallen grounds in Neumünster. Exhibitors at the fully booked compact trade fair will present a wide range of innovations in products and services for building construction and civil engineering, municipal and environmental technology, heating and energy systems, solutions for renovation and new construction for both private and commercial clients. A strong focus will also be placed on workforce recruitment with numerous contact points.
In its anniversary year, NordBau puts once again current topics in the spotlight. Façade greening, for example, will be showcased in a special exhibition in Hall 8 – in cooperation with the Schleswig-Holstein Association of Gardening, Landscaping and Sports Field Construction and Haus & Grund Schleswig Holstein. A life-size section of a façade will demonstrate the various possibilities of vertical greening to interested property owners. After all, greenery adds value to buildings and their surroundings by noticeably lowering temperatures inside and outside. With climate protection and sustainability in mind, it can also increase a property’s value.
Directly adjacent in Hall 7, all renowned manufacturers of energy, climate, and heating technology will be represented. Visitors can explore what fits best for their own homes. At the centre, the free advisory service of the Consumer Center and Haus & Grund Schleswig-Holstein will again offer personalized information on planned renovations, building improvements, or new construction – without prior appointments. Additional halls will feature a wide range of innovative building materials that stand for energy efficiency, sustainability, and modern construction.
For 50 years, the “Denmark Meeting Point” has also represented innovative and modern building at NordBau. This partnership with the neighbouring country and its exhibitors will be celebrated alongside NordBau’s 70th anniversary during the opening ceremony – on Wednesday, September 10, at the Holstenhallen Congress Center. Schleswig-Holstein’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Claus Ruhe Madsen, will open the fair – and also the 2nd CONBAU Nord Construction Congress – together with Thomas Østrup Møller, Ambassador of the Royal Danish Embassy in Berlin, and Jacqueline Charlier, State Councilor of the Hamburg Ministry for Urban Development and Housing. Their speeches will focus on Northern Europe as a business location, cross-border economic ties and infrastructure projects, as well as necessary developments in housing and urban planning. These topics will be picked up by NordBau exhibitors at their stands and in the special
shows.
In addition to the special exhibition on façade greening, the spotlight will also be on “temperature reduced asphalt,” presented by numerous industry experts in Hall 6. Solutions and examples will show how the new directive – in force since January 2025 and mandatory from January 1, 2027 – can be implemented. From that point onward, asphalt may only be laid at lower temperatures, improving workplace safety while also saving CO₂ and energy.
The opportunities and career paths the construction industry offers will be experienced by 1,250 students from 25 schools in northern Germany at NordBau. Through scheduled meetings, they will come into direct contact with exhibitors – and thus potential employers. The new open hands on area for STEM professions will also provide practical insights: sparking interest in construction professions for both apprenticeships and university studies. The nordjob Bau:Technik programme is taking place for the 13th time and is highly valued by companies and graduating students alike as a chance to gain first impressions, orientation, and contacts.
The range of recruitment opportunities is complemented by the recruiting area in Hall 1, success fully launched last year. Companies from the construction industry, trade businesses, and major construction groups will present themselves as attractive employers – for experienced specialists, career changers, and newcomers. In addition, contractors and clients can connect directly and easily here.
Exchange and knowledge transfer are also central to the roughly 50 specialist conferences and congresses on current construction topics. Demand for information is high, and the associations have chosen the themes well: events such as the Neumünster Fire Protection Day with a focus on modular construction, Road Construction – Root Damage on Cycle Paths, and the Northern German Sewer Rehabilitation Days are already nearly or completely booked out. However, a wide selection is still available – many of them officially recognized as continuing education by the Schleswig-Holstein Chamber of Architects and Engineers.
Trade fair visitors value direct communication – not only within the many events but also in conversations with exhibitors about new products and highlights. And the same applies in reverse: new equipment, machines, and tools need to be seen and touched before purchase; personal contact builds trust and is often the foundation of long-term business relationships. Many exhibitors confirm this already when booking their stands.
Interdisciplinary exchange and networking will also be at the heart of the 2nd CONBAU Nord – the construction congress on housing in transformation. Challenges and ideas concerning the heating transition, demographics, and building standards will be examined, with best-practice examples from across Northern Europe presented. More than 40 high-profile speakers will share their knowledge and, together with participants and organizers, they will contribute to shaping a more sustainable housing market.
The 70th NordBau once again offers a wide range of equipment for building construction and civil engineering, a variety of building materials, solutions for private properties, in-depth expertise from diverse players, career opportunities, and above all, plenty of opportunities for personal con tact and exchange. This is where people talk to each other.
