Enterprise Minister, Arlene Foster, has announced that Terex Finlay is strengthening its position in Southern Africa.
The Minister said the company, a global leader in tracked mobile materials processing equipment, has located two key sales and technical support staff in Johannesburg, to support a newly appointed distributor for the region.
The Tyrone-based company, she said, has also just sold its first I-100 impact crusher into South Africa. This innovative recycling machine was developed with the support of Investni, placing the company in a position to gain market share in a new and growing segment for South Africa.
Minister Foster was speaking during a visit to the Terex Finlay stand at the inaugural Bauma Africa trade show in Johannesburg. She was leading an Invest Northern Ireland trade mission to South Africa in which several other participating companies exhibited on a stand organised by the agency.
The Minister said: “Terex Finlay already has a strong presence in South Africa and is now implementing an ambitious strategy designed to strengthen its position in a market it regards as being of utmost importance to its growth in both the short and long term.
‘The positioning of experienced business development and technical staff in South Africa gives the company significant on the ground expertise to support Bell Equipment, its newly appointed distributor, in key functions such as sales development, technical training and after-market support.
Nigel Irvine, Terex Finlay’s Sales and Marketing Director, says: “Locating staff in South Africa with our new partner represents a major statement of intent to accelerate our growth and enhance our position as the market leader in Southern Africa.
‘We are excited about the opportunities presented with Bell Equipment. We have a partner with a wide reach in terms of market presence and equally importantly aftermarket sales support facilities and structure. We are confident that together we will not just reinforce and increase our dominant position, and with the expertise of Bell we will also make significant inroads into new market segments.
