Effective 1st December, Clare Gittins has been appointed Director of External Communications at Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE). Based at the company’s Global headquarters in Brussels, the role encompasses print and online media relations for the business, as well as establishing communication standards and practices for Volvo CE.
Clare joins Volvo from the London offices of international public relations agency SE10, where she has worked exclusively on the Volvo CE account since 2010. In June this year she accepted the temporary position of Interim Director of External Communications, while the search was conducted for a suitable replacement for the previous incumbent, Bill Law, who is now vice president of corporate communications for Volvo CE Americas.
Clare, 26, has a bachelor’s degree in History, a master’s degree in Journalism and is a NCTJ qualified journalist. Prior to joining SE10, Clare worked as an assistant editor at both Time Out magazine and Closer magazine coordinating print and online editorial, as well as writing for several UK based newspapers.
“This is an exciting time to be involved in corporate communications at Volvo,” says Clare. “Advances in technology are opening up a range of new possibilities, as well as challenges, to the way we communicate and I am looking forward to working with the company and its dedicated team of professionals to be a part of this innovative future.”
Commenting on the appointment, Klas Magnusson, Volvo CE’s Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications, said: “Clare has performed extremely well during her temporary role as director of external communications, and this strong performance coupled with her journalistic qualifications, dedication and enthusiasm made her a natural choice for the role.”
Clare will relocate to Brussels, Belgium from the UK.
