Volvo Construction Equipment is hosting a Construction Climate Challenge summit in Sweden next week, where leading industry representatives, academics and interested stakeholders will gather to discuss the challenges of achieving sustainable construction.
The Construction Climate Challenge (CCC) initiative promotes sustainability throughout the entire construction industry value chain and provides much-needed funding for environmental research. Martin Weissburg, president of Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE), will host the CCC summit in Gothenburg, Sweden, on June 24th, where distinguished panels of speakers will discuss the real-world challenges of achieving sustainable construction.
Presenters include representatives from the Volvo Group, WWF, Stockholm Resilience Center, European Commission, World Business Council for Sustainable Development, World Green Building Council and Building Research Establishment. Representatives from the Swedish Transport Administration, Swedish Energy Agency, local government in Gothenburg, Skanska, Balfour Beatty and HeidelbergCement will also be speaking at the event. Discussion topics include UN and European Commission initiatives and – in the build up to COP21 (the UN climate change conference in Paris) – how circular business models and collaboration across the value chain, together with innovations and research, can reduce the climate impact of construction.
