Ecobuild 2014 was. A huge number of companies, partners, sponsors and visitors turned out to make the event better than it’s ever been before. Great ideas were showed alongside innovative solutions and the wide array of practical and interactive features which were displayed on the showroom floor meant that Ecobuild 2014 was as entertaining as it was informative.
New Conference Area
One of the best new features of Ecobuild 2014 was the second conference area, which was introduced to deal with the growing number of academics and industry professionals who registered their interest in speaking at the event, as well as the growing crowds of visitors who wanted to listen and take part.
This year’s conference focussed heavily on sustainability, which is a key issue for many businesses and individuals in the construction industry. The sustainability of materials such as sheet metal and wood chip were discussed alongside building performance and the future of energy production, by a number of key speakers who all provided key insights into these important issues and others. These topics were also addressed by many of the conference attendees, such as Carbon Trust, who presented their own innovations and solutions throughout the rest of the show and in a number of linked external events.
Ground Breaking Experiments
The Ecobuild conference is involved in a number of independent projects, one of which is the Well-Being and the Future of Work Experiment. Ecobuild 2014 saw the continuation of this experiment, which was originally begun at the Chelsea Flower Show. But this project is about more than just cultivating pretty plants – the aim of the experiment is to assess and investigate new methods of manipulating the working environment in order to increase productivity, well-being, creativity and satisfaction, among other variables.
