Green Cities Conference is one of the leading built environment sustainable event co-hosted by the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) and the Property Council of Australia. Melbourne is yet again set to host this year’s event.
One most notable key presentation by Kent Larson, a director and principal research scientist at MIT on the ‘Cities of Tomorrow’ will seek to explore our roles and contributions in energizing our cities into clean sustainable urban centers able to provide for the needs of our present generation without compromising the future generation’s capability to also provide for their needs. Kent Larson will present work on anything raging from the concepts of electric cars all the way to Tardis-like apartment developments. Other key speakers in attendance include Lend Lease, the head of Sustainability Pascal Mittermaier, Adam Beck, the US Eco District program director, the CEO AECOM Buildings and Places, and the Swedish GBC and WSP sustainable cities director Arm-Kristin Karlson.
The newly introduced concept on, “Putting a Price Tag on Performance” will make debut during this conference. Leaders from Singapore, UK and South Africa green building councils, WGBC included will have the session to explore how to measure the previously unmeasurable concepts such as staff performance, health and satisfaction in the quest to extend the business case for green building. The case on regeneration on the other hand will unearth great opportunities for furnishing and modernizing existing buildings.
