(Neumünster) The CONBAU Nord construction congress, which was successfully launched at the last NordBau, will be continued this year. Participants, speakers, and organisers gave highly positive feedback after its premiere. The interdisciplinary exchange on topics such as the heating transition and housing construction will remain the foundation of this networking event. The Tech-nical University of Lübeck, the Association for Contemporary Building, the Schleswig-Holstein Investment Bank, and NordBau are already working on the programme for CONBAU Nord 2025, which will once again take place alongside NordBau on 10th and 11th September. Attendees can look forward to exciting sessions on these two days featuring practical solutions and opportunities for cross-industry exchange. Congress participation can be rounded off with a visit to the NordBau construction trade fair, which will once again showcase a wide range of construction machinery, construction equipment, commercial vehicles, tools and accessories, and will also feature two special topics.
Temperature-reduced asphalt – how can the current EU directive be implemented?
Saving CO2 and energy not only plays a decisive role in the building sector and in the heating transition, but also in road construction. A new EU directive on asphalt installation has been in effect since January 2025, with a transition period until the end of 2026. This states that only temperature-reduced asphalt may be laid. As the temperature during asphalt production is ap-prox. 30-50°C lower, the aerosol workplace limit value will be set at just 1.5 mg/m³. Previously it was 10 mg/m³. However, the change also poses challenges for everyone involved in the process. What modifications are required for machinery? Under what external temperatures and timeframes can the new asphalt be installed? And which components need to be added to achieve the required quality? The special show, which will be developed and presented at NordBau with industry experts, will provide answers and show successful examples of this new asphalt variant. Construction companies, local authorities and tendering administrations, state companies and state offices for road construction and transport, treasurers, logisticians, engineering offices and other interested parties can obtain comprehensive information on the subject in Hall 6 and ex-change ideas with each other in order to be able to comply with the new specifications after the transition period. Partners for this special topic include the Schleswig-Holstein State Office for Road Construction and Transport, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State Office for Road Construc-tion and Transport, the German Asphalt Association, B_I MEDIEN, laboratories and the industry.
Green Facades – Added Value for Buildings and Their Surroundings
The second special topic at NordBau focuses on green facades. In collaboration with the Schles-wig-Holstein Association for Gardening, Landscaping, and Sports Ground Construction, as well as Haus & Grund Schleswig-Holstein, this important topic is being presented for property owners and municipalities. In Hall 8, a life-size section of a facade will be used to demonstrate various options – allowing plants to hang down from above, securing them at different points, or growing them up from below – and, above all, the positive effects this can have. Green facades are about more than just aesthetics. As cities become warmer, vegetation is playing an increasingly im-portant role in temperature regulation. The impact is felt both inside buildings and in their sur-roundings, where greenery can noticeably reduce temperatures.
