International construction show secures global recognition with over 12,000 visitors for its first year
The construction event from dmg events (Doha) – The Big 5 Construct Qatar – has been awarded ‘Best International Show Middle East & Africa’ at the AEO (Association of Events) Excellence Awards 2019.
The first edition of The Big 5 Construct Qatar was officially inaugurated by H.E. Mohammed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi, former Minister of Municipality and Environment on September 2018, and with Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC) as its Strategic Partner.
Hosted in London, the AEO Excellence Awards take place on a yearly basis to recognize the best that the global events industry has to offer and showcases the standout achievements from within the industry.
Matt Denton, President of dmg events said: “We are delighted to win the ‘Best International Show’ at the AEO Excellence in Events Awards. Achieving this award not only firmly establishes the event as a leader in the market but also highlights the value the Big 5 Construct Qatar adds to the local construction industry. We are pleased to support the Qatar National Vision 2030 with establishing ourselves in Doha and investing in Qatar”.
The international event hosted over 240 companies from 21 countries in 2018 to support the country as it embarked on ambitious infrastructure, transport, and construction goals. The 12,000 attending industry professionals also benefited from over 40 CPD-certified and free to attend workshops.
He concludes: “The success of the event would not have been possible without the patronage from His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the Qatar National Tourism Council, the DECC, all our founding partners & sponsors, exhibitors and local suppliers.”

In 2019, the event will continue to drive forward the industry by representing the entire building cycle throughout seven dedicated product sectors: MEP Services; Building Interiors & Finishes; Building Envelope & Special Construction; Construction Tools & Building Materials; Construction Technologies & Innovations; Concrete; and Plant Machinery and Vehicles.
The Big 5 Construct Qatar is once again backed by Qatar National Tourism Council and will return to Doha, Qatar on 23 – 25th September 2019 at the Doha Exhibition and Conference Centre.
