With 190 exhibitors, including 36 companies making their Show debut, there is no better opportunity than the 2019 Executive Hire Show, for hirers to find the equipment they need as they prepare for a very busy year ahead.
There looks set to be plenty of new machines and products on display for visitors. Early indications of the product launches planned for the Show suggest that suppliers are working to help improve efficiency, safety and productivity for hirers.
The Executive Hire Show is taking place on the 6th and 7th February 2019 at its established home at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. The team has reported that the show is 99% sold and by February 2019 it will be full!
Many of the exhibitors have chosen to increase their stand space including, UK Caterpillar dealer Finning and access equipment manufacturer Snorkel UK. Armorgard Security Products have doubled the size of their plot. The Show is also delighted to welcome excavator manufacturer Takeuchi back to the Show after a two-year absence and construction machinery manufacturer Mecalac will also return. It would certainly seem that the hire industry has not been distracted by Brexit and is moving forward confidently regardless.
New exhibitors include excavator attachment manufacturer Geith, mini dumper manufacturer Muck Truck, GeoRipper mini trencher distributor Four Ashes Machinery, mini excavator manufacturer and Powerfab. Now in its 13th year, the event organisers felt that the Show needed a whole new look to refresh and reinvigorate it for exhibitors and visitors, so a complete redesign has been undertaken with a completely new layout.
Executive Hire Show Director Craig Donovan reported, “We wanted to ‘refresh’ the Show and move it forward. The Ricoh has become the ‘home of hire’ being such a convenient venue for visitors to get to. Therefore, as a team and working with our exhibitors, we have completely redesigned the Show! The exhibitors have all moved stand location which has created a whole new look.”
For the 2019 event visitors can expect to see once again ‘The Innovation Trail – Live!’ where selected Innovation Trail products, which are considered to be particularly outstanding, will be exhibited on an elevated stage area in Hall 2. Paul Hutton, a radio, podcast and YouTube channel presenter, will be hosting the event and will interview each company’s representative live on the stage.
New products have always been at the heart of the Executive Hire Show and it’s the place where visitors get to see new potential profit earners and take advantage of show only deals – which makes the show an even better prospect for visitors. Here’s a selection of what hirers can expect to see on display at the Executive Hire Show 2019.
Takeuchi is back at the Show with a new towable mini. The new Takeuchi TB225 2.25 tonne mini machine is ideal for tool hire companies looking for a towable mini that sits safely within trailer towing limits.
The machine was specifically designed to meet the growing demand by hire companies who wanted a heavier Takeuchi within trailer towing weight. Available in both cab and canopy, it powers in just under 2400kg cab or 2265kg canopy with plenty of room for extras in the trailer. The machine also comes with an integrated trailer tie-down.
The TB225 comes with 16.5kW of power, 19.3kN of digging force and breakout of 12.8kN; bringing it close to a 3-tonne mini in power capacity. Compact in size with expandable tracks taking the machine from a very narrow 1100mm up to 1500mm for maximum access in narrow areas with added stability when digging deep. The TB225 features joystick proportional control.
Molson Compact Equipment will be bringing models from their Kobelco mini excavator line to the Show. This will be the first time Kobelco machinery will have been shown at EHS.
Joining Ammann Compaction Equipment, a Dieci Apollo telehandler and a Cormidi tracked dumper, on the Molson Compact Equipment stand will be the Kobelco: SK10SR-2 (1,065 kg), SK17SR-3 and the SK28SR-6 (2,950 kg)
The Kobelco SK17SR-3 is a compact, yet tough mini excavator. Available as a canopy (1,555 kg) or cab (1,655 kg) version, these machines are commonly found working on sites where space is restricted, such as residential, landscaping and industrial works.
On both the cabbed and canopy versions the tracks expand from 990 – 1,320 mm, aiding stability when working but also allowing for easier site access and transportation when tracks are fully retracted.
For an excavator in this class size it has very good capabilities, helped by a long arm giving a dig depth of 2.38 metres and a dump height of 3.41 metres.
Two brand new JCB machines will be shown for the first time at the Show – the CT260 roller and JCB 19C-1E electric mini excavator.
The 19C-1E is JCB’s first ever electric excavator – the quietest digger in its range and one delivering zero emissions. It will allow contractors to work inside buildings, in emissions-sensitive inner city environments and in tunnels or underground, without having to install costly exhaust extraction equipment.
It features three lithium-ion battery packs providing a 312Ah (15kWh) storage capacity while the convenient on-board charger with 230V/110V input gives 5-8-hour recharging capability. A standard load-sensing hydraulic system delivers powerful digging performance and the sophisticated battery management system ensures full-shift availability.
The brand new CT260 tandem roller has a maximum operating weight of 2740kg and powered by a Tier 4 Final 18.5kW engine, it brings improved fuel economy without the need for a costly DPF or fuel additives. It features three simple, switchable vibration settings: for both drums, independent front and independent rear, with Automatic Vibration Control as standard.
Bobcat will be showing the Bobcat E10 zero tail swing mini-excavator, now renamed the E10z, which this year has passed the landmark of 10,000 units sold around the world, the majority of which have been in the rental sector. Alongside the E10z will be the 7/31G+ compressor generator from Doosan Portable Power, which incorporates an 8.6 kVA generator and is aimed at the utilities industry and rental companies serving this sector.
The main feature which differentiates the E10z from other machines on the market is the patented side adjustable consoles which accommodate hydraulic pilot pressure controlled joysticks.
Compressor generators from Doosan Portable Power are aimed at the utilities industry and rental companies serving this sector. The larger 8.5 kVA generator option meets a specific requirement in utility work to meet the demands of the latest fusion welding equipment, providing electrical power that can also be used for lights and tools together with compressed air for powering breakers and other pneumatic equipment.
The generator option is available on two machines – the 7/31+ model, providing a free air delivery of 3.0 m3/min at an output pressure of 7 bar and the larger 7/41+ portable compressor, supplying 4.0 m3/min of compressed air at 7 bar output pressure.
Mecalac Construction Equipment UK Ltd will showcase a number of models from its product portfolio at the Show.
Alongside the all-new 6MDX cabbed site dumper, Mecalac will exhibit its rental-tough MBR-71 pedestrian roller and TV-1200 tandem compaction roller. Each model has been designed from the ground-up to provide operators with a reliable and robust hire solution.
Tufftruk is bringing the new TRUXTA range of battery powered mini dumpers. Compact and portable the TRUXTA Bendie allows access into the most environmentally sensitive areas allowing eight-hours of continuous operation with zero emissions. The compact battery unit with an in-built charger also provides noise-free operation.
The new range has a regenerative-braking system to help the slow down when stopping; this generates power into battery pack, to increase efficiency and range. At just 730mm (850mm) wide the TRUXTA 4×4 is really compact and gets into places other units can’t.
The mini dumper’s articulated chassis means that it handles corners with minimum effort – just steer around bends and corners – no need to lift or reposition. The Bendie also offers excellent load capacity in and around sites and gardens.
New exhibitor Parkway Plant Sales is showing its Traker Mini dumper range which includes three models divided by capacity, from 600 kg to 1500 kg, in over 30 different combinations of equipment and engine.
The T85 800 kg dumper and the T150 1500 kg capacity are equipped with a mono-joystick with hydraulic control, dedicated to machine translation and rotation. A unique system on this type of machine, ensures precise movements, low consumption and short travel times, never overlooking machine performances.
Parkway Plant say that the Traker dumper is the perfect multi-tool machine, designed for use on construction sites or in limited accessible areas where wheeled dumpers move with difficulty.
All mini dumpers feature rocking rollers to assist carrying any material on any kind of uneven surfaces, or in strong front and side sloping conditions such as hilly, mountainous areas, always guaranteeing maximum stability and safety.
Atlas Copco is showcasing the 8 Series portable compressor range; the E-Air compressor. This electric powered compressor with Variable Speed Drive (VSD) offers up to 40% greater flow for the same power consumption compared to conventional portable compressors. Atlas Copco say that the E-Air is a combination of smart engineering, time tested technology and quality components which all add up to make a solution with extreme versatility, suitability for a wide range of applications and zero emissions.
Many hand operated machines, including pneumatic and hydraulic breakers and compaction equipment, produce high HAV (Hand Arm Vibration). BOMAG will exhibit two versatile machines, which tackle this problem. BOMAG say these machines can tackle most small-scale compaction jobs with ease.
The BPH 80/65S reversible hydraulic plate and the BMP 8500 multi-purpose compactor are both remotely controlled and so the operator is not exposed to any HAV. Both machines have safety systems built into the remote-control operator which safeguards the operator. These are powerful versatile machines. The BPH 80/65S produces 80kN of force at a frequency of 55 Hz whilst the BMP 8500 produces up to 72 kN of force at 42 Hz. The third machine on display will be the low HAV (2.5m/sec2) BVP 10/30 single direction vibrating plate.
Trime UK will be showcasing its zero-emissions X-BATTERY and X-CHAIN site lighting towers. Trime’s popular X-ECO LED lighting set will also be on display.
Trime report, that the X-BATTERY was used at festivals throughout the 2018 and over two hundred X-CHAIN sets were purchased by a leading rental organisation.
In addition, the company will also be launching the innovative X-BOOT footwear cleaning module – a product that features a unique recycling water system. Using a similar technique that the made the X-SPLASH such a successful product, the X-BOOT wash system has been made to recycle 100% of the water used. Its clever design enables a site to utilise the same water many times, as the X-BOOTs’ filtration system collects the soil and mud for easy disposal via a removable textile bag.
Genquip Groundhog will be exhibiting its GPO500 Fusion Pulse, eight-man mobile welfare unit and separate office all with on board solar trickle charging.
Alongside this will be the company’s most popular static welfare unit, the SWO7600 Fusion Pulse with solar trickle charge. More sites now have mixed use and are demanding a much higher level of toilet provision therefore this unit will have separate male and female toilet facilities with full flush capability and no chemical toilet.
To complete the eco benefits the SWO7600 Fusion Pulse has an extremely efficient heating system and new solar panel system ensuring a more efficient charge from the panels, further reducing the need of the on-board generator.
New Era Oil will be showcasing Fuelshot which is a high performance, semi-synthetic 2-stroke oil, which rather than being in a plastic bottle, Fuelshot is a 100ml sachet, which the company say is easily disposable and reduces plastic landfill waste – contributing towards reducing single use plastics.
Fuelshot is 100ml of semi-synthetic two-stroke oil that treats 5l of petrol to give a 50:1 mic. This oil is ideally suited for medium to high output two-stroke engines. Fuelshot is designed to lubricate air cooled, medium to high output two-stroke engines in landscaping and petrol-powered tools.
AlorAir Solutions UK is making its Show debut showing the company’s range of dehumidifiers. Sales and Marketing Manager, Simon Robinson said, “We have a number of units already being sold in the UK but are just starting with two of our largest portable units the Storm SLGR 1400X and the Storm SLGR 1600X both of these units are the super low grain refrigerant products ensuring better dehumidification of the air.”
Simon added, “We are also able to offer our customers, on our rotary moulded products, various colour options in addition to rebadging or branding options which allow the national and local hire centres have machines unique to them.”
New exhibitor Four Ashes Machinery is the exclusive UK importer and distributor for GeoRipper mini trenchers, which are handheld portable trenching machines for applications such as irrigation, drainage, fibre optic, root pruning, root barrier, fencing and many others where a clean deep trench of up to 700mm is needed with minimum effort, ground disruption and little back fill.
Four Ashes say that GeoRipper mini trenchers are a time and money saving tool for landscapers, utility companies, telecoms, electricians and also for golf courses, nurseries, outdoor events and private users. The trenchers can be mounted on a choice of Makita, Stihl and Husqvarna power heads with the optional EZ Kart, making it an ideal proposal for the hire market.
The complete range will be on display at the Show and will include 16”, 20” and 27” trenchers mounted on two and four stroke Makita power units.
Probst is launching SAFEFLEX SF, which according to the company, is an innovative fixing aid for safe and easy cutting or bending of stones and plates.
Probst say that the SAFEFLEX SF can significantly reduce the risk of cuts and building materials, such as paving stones and natural stone slabs, can be fixed quickly and safely. This makes cutting work with the angle grinder easy, safe and precise. To fix the building material, the user presses his foot onto the upper clamping element. If the user removes his foot from the non-slip tread, the springs push the clamping elements apart and the machined building material can be removed.
The HSC is showing the new Master DC61, Infra-red Battery Diesel Heater which is a portable diesel heater that does not require any mains power and weighs just 19kg’s. The switchable 14v lithium ion battery works for four hours from a full charge and the diesel tank holds sufficient fuel for seven hours of continuous use at maximum heat (17kW, 58,000Btu).
The Master battery charger houses the most up to date technology and recharges a depleted battery in just 60minutes. The DC 61 can be run from either 110volt or a 240volt supply if the battery is not required and this also trickle chargers the battery when it is in situ. HSC say that the heater is ideal for heating multiple people in a small area or for workers out in the open, it has a connection available to attach an optional room thermostat so that it works to a pre-set area temperature.
Kohler will be presenting the K-HEM (KOHLER Hybrid Energy Module) hybrid electrical and mechanical combined power generation unit. In light of the changes that the new emissions directive will bring to the off-road applications sector beginning on 1 January 2019, Kohler has added a product to its array that is capable of meeting the new needs of equipment manufacturers in this sector.
The K-HEM unit generates power using a combination of a KDW 1003 18-kW diesel engine, compliant with Stage V standards and without DPF, and a 48-volt electric engine that guarantees 15 kW of peak power and 9 kW of continuous power. This means that the unit is capable of providing over 30 kW without the need for exhaust gas after-treatment systems. What’s more, K-HEM can operate as a generator for energy accumulation systems.
Wirtgen Limited will be presenting two models from the Hamm HD CompactLine – the HD8VV and the HD12VV from a range of 16 models available in the sub 4.5 t weight category.
Four models from the CompactLine are available with oscillation which provides environmentally friendly and efficient compaction technology. A major advantage of oscillation is that it achieves a very fast increase in compaction.
The benefits are particularly noticeable for processes such as compaction of thin asphalt layers. Another advantage is a much lower level of vibrations with oscillatory rollers than with vibratory rollers, making them ideal for compaction tasks in inner city locations where they can compact systematically without vibration damage to buildings or pipework. Oscillation optimises compaction at joints with existing road surfaces, for example during minor repairs.
All CompactLine models over 2.5t in weight can include LED drum lighting, an important safety feature to enable the driver to see where they are compacting.
DART Tool Group will be displaying their popular range of what the company call its ‘extreme performance’ Red Ten Diamond Products.
The DART Red Ten Diamond range of blades, cores, mini porcelain holesaws and abrasive disks have been manufactured to the highest standards, say Dart, offering the construction industry with a reliable and robust diamond product, every time.

With their quick and easy chart which is on the back of each blade box, DART Red Ten Diamond users will always know exactly what blade they need for the job.
NightSearcher will be introducing the Tower Pro at this year’s Show. This ultra-bright mains flood light emits an impressive 16,000 lumens spread across 360° and projected up to 50m metres, it can be powered from a 230V or 110V supply.
NightSearcher say that this robust floodlight is ideal for the hire industry. It has a tough aluminium housing, is quick and easy to setup, and has fold-able and lockable light heads with anti-glare diffused lenses providing wide spread, shadow-free light. The Tower Pro is supplied with 10 meters of heavy duty H07RN-F cable and extendable tripod that raises the floodlight up to 2.5 metres.
Stanley ¬is using the EHS to officially launch the Sprinter 250 to its range of award-winning stair climbers. The new model has the capacity to carry loads weighing up to 250Kg, perfect for safely and efficiently moving larger items up and down the stairs.
Stanley report that the stair climber is lighter, faster and more robust than other models currently available on the market. 12Kg has been removed from the previous 190 model, which is invaluable to an operator using the equipment for lengthy periods.
The lithium battery technology provides reliability for up to 2000 steps before the next charge. And with quick in-transit charging, users can recharge the battery on the go – satisfying those workers who are on the road for long periods of time.
With multiple applications and accessories, the 250 is customisable to a range of businesses. Stanley claim that the ultimate benefit is that the hirer will generate a return on their investment in just five weeks! There will be live demos throughout the show.
Pramac-Generac UK is showcasing its range of Gas generators at the EHS, which will see the company expand its current range of mobile and industrial Pramac power solutions, as well as its gas partner network.
The new Pramac Gas range will be available via UK gas partners as soon as January 2019 and will offer an alternative fuel choice for stand-by generators, which will be as high performing as diesel.
With the burgeoning green agenda and increasing demand for alternative fuels in back-up power, natural gas is an inspired solution for many stand-by genset applications. It provides much longer runtimes and delivers a greener fuel solution with reduced NOX emissions.
David Oates, Managing Director, Pramac-Generac UK said: “By harnessing our 50-year heritage and experience in the power industry, this latest line has been developed in parallel with our current diesel and petrol products. We can present our customers with greater choice and contemporary power products as pressure mounts to source and make alternative fuel choices.”
National Flooring Equipment will showcase its 5000 cinq-mille and 5700 ride-on floor strippers. The 5000 is a compact ride-on floor stripper that can be used in a range of applications, including soft and hard goods removal. The 5700 all-day battery powered ride-on stripper can work for up to twelve hours on a single charge and remove goods in most applications.
Visitors to the stand will also see the power hammer trolley. Working with an upright power hammer can be uncomfortable, making it more difficult to work efficiently. Contractors can use the trolley to change the angle of the power hammer, making it more ergonomic to manoeuvre.
National Flooring Equipment will also be launching a new shot blaster at the show. The new machine will strip, clean and profile concrete in a single step, increasing productivity.
MHM will be showcasing their brand-new Solar/Hybrid power generator, currently available with 6 and 10kVA power outputs. According to MHM this highly sustainable and cost saving piece of equipment will not only work towards helping end users to save fuel costs but will also be of benefit to the wider environment, as it drastically reduces harmful emissions.
The MHM team will also be introducing to the hire industry a new range of fuel storage tanks, 950 to 3000 litres, along with load banks, distribution boards and a complete line of transformers.
MHM’s national rehire service has been a vital component in many hire firms operations throughout 2018. The MHM rehire team will be on the stand to explain to any registered hire organisation how their unique function helps them to offer a comprehensive site lighting, generator and welder hire service, without having to endure costly capital outlay.
Klauke UK will be showing new tools which eliminate hazards of trailing hoses and cumbersome two-person operation. Instead the Klauke say that the powerful 18V Li-Ion driven battery-hydraulic tools can slice through up to 105mm diameter cables and produce 15 tons of compression for terminating cables up to 630mm2. A simple one-person operation which is monitored by integrated sensors, confirming full force on every cycle and allowing the ability to certify every installation.
Steel strut cutting on construction sites has become even safer with the Greenlee hydraulic strut cutter. Mounted on a mobile trolley for easy site use, the Shear 30T eliminates hazards associated with traditional cutters (blades, rotating discs, sparks, noise). It has a controlled hydraulic shear producing burr free cuts quickly and accurately. The shearing action wipes galvanic coatings across the cut end to aid corrosion protection instantly. Powered by a compact battery driven hydraulic pump this offers the perfect site strut cutting solution.
Castle Brooke Tools will be showing for the first time a number of new tools for use with electric hammers including range of self-sharpening points and chisels for use with electric hammers having a slotted hexagon shank tool retainers.
A new flexible blade scraper for use with hammers taking SDS plus type shank as well as a range of stone dressing tools with Tungsten carbide inserts for use with SDS Max type hammers
New for the show, The Preparation Group will be showcasing its latest range
of accessories incorporating new diamond technology, for removing, grinding and cleaning a wide range of materials. New diamond disc designs provide airflow for enhanced performance and are longer lasting. The new wool-based cleaning and maintenance pads are not only an eco-friendly process, but they are also good for the environment.
Lighter and a universal fit, the new diamond discs and pads join thousands of other consumables and spares that are ready to deliver next day, or same day within two hours of its depot.
MCS, the rental software specialists, will exhibit its award-winning hire software and mobile solutions at the Show.
Built on innovative technology, MCS-rm has additional functionality available for hirers from its integrated CRM solution to its range of mobile apps, which are perfectly tailored for divisional teams to work on the move.
Following on the company’s Innovation Award win last year, MCS has expanded on the number of telematics partners that integrate with the MCS Telematics Hub in MCS-rm. On the stand, visitors will be able to see the latest updates to the Telematics Hub, which allows hire companies to get clear visibility of actual equipment locations and usage from machines in their rental fleet directly from MCS-rm.
Makita will be showing a range of products including the new Makita Twin 18V Brushless LXT Rotary Hammer Drill, DHR281ZJ – which Makita say is lightweight but also rugged and powerful. It has the capacity to drive a 28mm hole into concrete; 32mm into wood and 13mm into steel. The drilling speed is controlled by the variable speed trigger which is comfortably positioned on the vibration absorbing side handle assembly, which cuts drilling vibration transmission to protect the operator. The BL motor will run the drill up to 980 rpm with 2.8 joules of impact energy and has three operating modes.
A tool dust extraction attachment, DX09, will also be on display as well as Makita’s extensive range of compatible accessories for dust extraction drilling. Visitors will also see and experience the DHR400ZKU SDS-MAX Rotary Demolition Hammer that was awarded the Speedy Expo Star Product Award 2018, which is the first large Makita Hammer to feature the patented AVT system to offer the lowest vibration in class for the hire industry.
C.Scope will be showing pipe and cable avoidance equipment at the Show. Before and during any kind of ground penetrating works, Cable Avoidance Equipment should be used to protect against the risk of personal injury and damage to buried cables and pipes.
The C.Scope DXL4 Cable Avoidance Tools and SGV4 Signal Generators come with a Three-Year Warranty. They do not require periodic recalibration.
