Salesman’s long service rewarded at Royal Cornwall Show

Well known and respected South West plant and machinery salesman Rod Luckman, made his final working appearance at the Royal Cornwall Show last week, which was his 33rd consecutive attendance at the premier event, held each year at the Royal Cornwall Showground in Wadebridge.
Rod’s first Royal Cornwall Show was in June 1982, when he was working for Holt JCB. Rod continued to return to the show with Holts until 2000, this period included the hugely popular JCB Dancing Diggers appearance at the show in 1986. In 2001 Rod moved on to work for Beacon Plant Sales, where he was to be involved in selling compact equipment from Bomag and Thwaites. In 2002 Rod joined CBL Plant Sales working out of the company’s Saltash regional depot, where he has remained to this day, selling a whole host of products from the company’s portfolio, which once again included Bomag compaction equipment and Thwaites dumpers. Rod was also instrumental in the change to Takeuchi mini excavators, which have consistently proven to be the most successful product in the CBL range.

Rod will be retiring from his position at the end of this year and CBL wanted to award him with a gift on his last ever Royal Cornwall Show as a CBL employee. The presentation was made on the CBL stand during the final day of the show by the Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall and this year’s Deputy President, Colonel Edward Bolitho.
The presented personalised gift box consisted of scale models of some of the very products that Rod has been selling for CBL over the past 13 years of service with the company.

Rod has over the years realised the importance of doing the show and also the need to keep it fresh year on year. We will certainly miss him next year and I am sure his customers will also”.
