The Mining Sector will Meet in Santa Marta


From July the 17th through the 19th, at the Irotama Hotel Golf Marina Convention Center will be held the 9th Intersectoral Mining Congress CIMI. On this occasion the event will be attended by Gordon Zonailo, Vice President of Infrastructure Technology Process from Ausenco Sandwell (Canada), who will be presenting port models required for a competitive and efficient mining activity. Likewise, with the participation of Rick Honaker, Chair & Professor of the Department of Mining Engineering at the University of Kentucky and the presence of Pedro Pablo Duarte Perez, Director of Research, Development and Innovation from ANDCOM, who will be speaking about New Technologies Applicable to Control and Monitoring Coastal, and Ports Dedicated to Load Mining and Petroleum Products.
The event will present, Jorge Humberto Botero, Consultant from Araujo Ibarra & Asociados, to analyze the implications of the TLC for the Mining sector, and Alejandro Mesa Neira, Partener of Baker & Mckenzie in Colombia, who will be giving a presentation about the New Management Structure in the Mining Sector.
For the opening session is invited the President of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, the Minister of Mines & Energy, Mauricio Cardenas Santa Maria, and the ANDI Vice President of Mining, Hydrocarbons & Energy, Dr. Santiago Angel Urdinola, taking into account the forthcoming changes to be seen in the mining code, the Government’s proposal for the management and product distribution of royalties from mining, public policy guarantees to promote foreign investment and make it sustainable in the long term and condition of infrastructure projects to strengthen the growth of mining.
Experts like Juan Fernando Lucio, International Mining Investment Consultant (Colombia); Mason Trouchet, Group Technical Sales & Marketing Manager from Rainstorm (Australia), Julio Martinez CFO at Latin American Minerals (Canada), Nicolas Lopez, Ex Director of Mines at the Antoioquia Government (Colombia), Francisco Ugalde, Project Manager at Quality Safety Edge (USA); Arturo Bonillas, President of Timmins Gold (Mexico), Diego Sanchez, Product Manager & ASC & ERTG Group Coordinator at Cavotec Group (USA), among others, have confirmed their participation as speakers.
Colombian Mining Conference brings together about 300 people each year and is characterized by scheduled field visits to different places of interest to the mining sector. This time attendees will be visiting the facilities of the Port Authority of Santa Marta, Rio Cordoba Port Vale and Drummond Ltd. And on Friday, July the 20th the Colombian Mining Golf Tournament will be held at the Country Club in Barranquilla.
