We are now just weeks away from PlantWorx 2025 — the UK’s largest working construction equipment show in 2025 — taking place from 23rd to 25th September at Newark Showground. The event has received the backing of government, with Sarah Jones MP, Minister for Construction, issuing a welcome message to exhibitors and visitors that recognises the vital contribution the industry makes to the economy, skills, exports, and innovation.

The Minister’s statement highlights how PlantWorx will showcase the technologies and solutions needed to boost productivity, cut carbon, and drive safer, smarter working across the sector. Her words underline PlantWorx’s role as a meeting point for manufacturers, hire companies, contractors and policymakers.

Ministerial Welcome

It is a great pleasure to welcome exhibitors and visitors to PlantWorx 2025, the UK’s leading live showcase for construction equipment, technology, and innovation.

The UK’s construction equipment manufacturing and plant-hire industries are at the heart of our economy. With the Government committed to delivering 1.5m new homes, a 10 Year Infrastructure Strategy to modernise energy, transport and water infrastructure, and a modern Industrial Strategy, we need the machinery, skills and innovation that the construction equipment and plant hire sectors provide. With a total turnover of over £15 billion each year, they also represent a vital part of our advanced manufacturing capability — employing tens of thousands of people in highly skilled, well-paid jobs across the country, and exporting products worth over £4.5 billion to markets all over the world.

Plant-hire companies, distributors, contractors and consultants all play a crucial role in ensuring the UK’s construction sector remains productive, competitive and safe. The services and equipment they provide are integral to delivering the high-quality infrastructure our communities need.

This year’s show is particularly important. The sector is entering a new chapter — one defined by the need to improve productivity, embrace digital and data-led technologies, and reduce environmental impact. PlantWorx 2025 is providing a platform for businesses to demonstrate how they are rising to these challenges, from electric and hydrogen-powered equipment to smarter site management systems, automation, and advances in safety.

The Site Sustainability Showcase is a timely example of the industry’s leadership. By highlighting both the opportunities and the practical challenges of low-carbon equipment and alternative fuels, it will help policymakers and industry alike to navigate the road ahead in a way that is realistic, cost-effective, and delivers real results.
