Wedding on Track, Boom, Bucket and Bride – Operator gets ‘Quick Hitched’ with his Hyundai!

Hyundai dealers, Young Plant Sales and Equipment, based in Stirling, Scotland have been supplying N & L Warden (Contractors) in St Cyrus, Aberdeenshire with machines for a number of years. One particular Hyundai excavator – was the guest of honour at, Christopher ‘Slewie’ Warden (27), an employee of N&L Warden’s and his fiancée Pauline’s (28) wedding! Now that’s dedication to your machine!

Christopher ‘Slewie’ Warden is the nephew of Neil and Lilian Warden, owners of N & L Warden (Contractors) – he has worked for the company since he was 16-years old when he was given his first shiny new digger! Lilian Warden said, “As you can imagine Christopher’s passion for diggers started very young he was always hanging around looking for a job to be done. Chris has been driving diggers since he was old enough to climb into the cab and is still, to this day EXTREMELY passionate about them!”
Lilian added, “On a works night out Chris had a few too many beers and spent the night swirling around on his bar stool pretending to drive his slew digger. His workmates started calling him “Slewie” and it has stuck with him ever since.”
Today, still with N& L Warden, Christopher and his Hyundai R140LC-9 are sub-contracted to a local house builder Peterkin Homes Ltd, Auchenblae, mainly digging foundations and carrying out all types of ground works!

Christopher and Pauline’s wedding took place at West Mearns Parish Church in Auchenblae, Aberdeenshire. From day one the wedding was always going to have a digger theme, starting with the 14 tonne Hyundai excavator making an appearance at the church. According to Pauline Warden, “It was the only way I could get him to organise anything for the wedding! He spent every evening prior to our big day cleaning and polishing the machine so that it was gleaming.”
Following the wedding ‘Slewie’ has gone back to the day job with his trusty steed and Pauline returns to her role as a primary school teacher! “I have resigned myself to the fact that my husband eats, sleeps and breaths his machine” Said Pauline “And I now have to live with the nickname “Mrs Slewie”!
Christopher declined to comment – he was too busy taking care of his machine!
