Four crane and transport experts to debate the challenges of working in oil & gas and petrochemical environments. Seventeen speakers slated for the one-and a half day conference in Miami, FL, November 12-13.
The challenges of undertaking lifting and specialized transport projects in the oil and gas and petrochemicals industries will be debated at the World Crane and Transport Summit (WCTS) taking place in Miami, FL November 12-13.
The oil and gas round-table will feature Keith Anderson (Bechtel), Joey Andrews (CITGO Petroleum Corp), Joseph Collins (Becht Engineering) and Frank Bardonaro (Maxim Crane Co.). The four will discuss the special demands of working in such environments, including safety, documentation and equipment requirements.
The round-table is just one element of the one and a half day conference and networking dinner taking place at the famous Biltmore hotel in Miami.
More than 17 speakers will participate, including senior figures from North America’s crane and transport industry such as keynote speaker Alan Barnhart (CEO, Barnhart Crane & Rigging), Scott Bragg (VP, Bragg Companies) and Ted Redmond (CEO, NCSG).
The event is organised by KHL Group and its magazines International Cranes and Specialized Transport and American Cranes & Transport, with ENR magazine cooperating on the oil and gas panel. The event is supported by the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA).
Among the other topics will be an assessment of the potential for crane and transport related work within the shale oil and gas industry in North America. Scott Hazelton of consultant IHS Global Insight will report on a new IHS report that estimates shale oil and gas activities could generate US$26.7 billion (€21.2 billion) in equipment rental revenues between 2012 and 2025.
Safety related topics will include an analysis by Jim Wiethorn, principal engineer at Haag Engineering, of more than 750 crane and rigging related accident in the US since 1987.
“Every lift and accident is unique, and our goal was to evaluate a broad cross-section of accidents throughout the United States in order to provide constructive information to the crane industry on factors causative of crane accidents,” said Wiethorn.
The conference, which includes a networking dinner on the evening of 12 November, starts at lunchtime on November 12 and runs until 5.30pm on November 13.
