The way China has transformed itself over the past few decades is nothing short of amazing. From a mostly rural nation it’s become one of the world’s economic powerhouses, and its cities are expanding at an incredible rate. That means it has one of the busiest construction industries on Earth, and if you’re looking at working there BICES is the place to find out more. Running from 22-25 September, this will be the thirteenth Beijing International Construction machinery Exhibition & Seminar and it looks like being the best yet.
BICES has been running every two years since 1989 and it’s become a major event for the global industry, so there will be an extensive lineup of exhibitors this year. As well as international visitors including Perkins Diesel, Caterpillar and Terex there will be hundreds of local companies. Expect to see representatives from the USA, Germany, Britain, Australia, Korea and many other countries. The exhibition will take up three of the venue’s eight halls (two other exhibitions – commercial vehicles and emergency rescue equipment – will be running in other halls) as well as an outside area.
One of the amazing things about BICES is the variety of what’s on display. This event covers practically any type of construction machinery you could think of, from the full range of plant to brick kilns, concrete fabrication systems, quarrying and mining equipment and specialist vehicles. There will also be plenty of service, maintenance and leasing companies taking part. In total there will be more than a thousand exhibitors, packing a vast array of technology and expertise into the event.
As well as the exhibition itself there’s plenty more happening at BICES. A range of seminars and conferences will be taking place throughout the event, covering everything from the latest technology to the best ways to run a project in China. With over 100,000 visitors expected based on BICES 2013, this is the largest industry gathering in Asia; that makes it the perfect opportunity to start networking, learn about the market and make the contacts who will help your entry into it.
The venue is the New Beijing International Exhibition Center, which has good transport links to both the international airport and central Beijing. It’s a well-equipped, modern complex with plenty of space to do BICES justice. There’s also a good range of on-site amenities, including restaurants, and plenty of hotels nearby. Entry to BICES 2015 is free for industry professionals; just register online at the event website.
