The international specialized exhibitions SECURITY EXPO, BULGARIA BUILDING WEEK AND SOFIA LOGEXPO were held from 19 to 22 March 2014 at Inter Expo Center – Sofia. They presented the latest novelties in the field of private and public security and safety, energy efficiency, environmental and functional construction, as well as and innovations in logistics, distribution, warehouse equipment and facilities.
The 14th edition of Bulgaria Building Week presented a variety of materials and insulations for infrastructure, industrial and civil construction. Among the exhibits there were windows, facades, functional fitting, stairs, railings and other architectural and design elements. There were registered 107 direct exhibitors, including 44 new companies. Companies from Bulgaria, Austria, Belgium, Romania, Germany, Greece, Poland, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine presented their latest solutions in more than 30 sectors of construction industry. The exhibition demonstrated a variety of bricks, tiles, insulation, waterproofing, metal reinforcing bars, dry mixes, construction plywood, gypsum, electrical and plumbing ware, paints and ironmongery, interior and metal doors. There was shown significant interest to the magnesium- oxide plates of the highest grade. Visitors could see completely new technology for swimming pools, as well as gas fireplaces, saving up to 40 % of their gas bills. There were demonstrated unknown to Bulgarian market automatic safety bars and panels of cross-laminated timber, known for their high thermal and acoustic performance, excellent fire behavior, high seismic resistance and high structural strength.
There were demonstrated specifics of the design and construction of green roofs and green walls, as well as the subtleties in landscape design and construction. The interest of the specialists in infrastructure construction was prompted by the thin-walled structures of corrugated iron, widely used for culverts, irrigation channels and railway underpasses and overpasses and bridges. Among the exhibits there was a large range of products for reinforcement, drainage and erosion control, and also specialized industrial products, geosynthetics and industrial fabrics. A new system for glass railings was shown for the first time on Bulgarian market. Unlike the stainless-steel, glass railings have vertical columns, and use the structural properties of glass. High quality systems for central or home air-conditioning, setting a new industry standard for price / performance ratio also had their Bulgarian premiere.
The fifth edition of the annual BUILDINGREEN conference sought an answer to the question:
“Is there a thing such as energy efficiency final goals? “ Upcoming, current or temporarily suspended projects with a view to their start or completion were discussed in the discussion forum entitled “Let’s make a wake-up call for construction business “, which was held on the second day of the exhibition. The chief architect of Sofia Municipality, Petar Dikov, presented an integrated plan for urban regeneration and development, which outlined the strategic priorities and objectives for sustainable development of Sofia, through the principles of integrated planning. Visitors learnt about some of the projects subcontracted by the Sofia Municipality.
They focused on energy efficien, functional and environmental construction .For the second consecutive year there was organized a demonstration zone “Mission at Mr.Handyman‘s service” where the demonstrations were filmed and streamed on the website of the ” Mission My Home” TV show. The official partner of Bulgarian Building Week was UniCredit BulBbnk, whose experts were available for consultation on comprehensive financial, payment and loan services that could improve competitiveness.
