- 550 exhibitors from 30 nations
- Spirit of optimism in the construction industry
- Formwork expert Doka present for the first time
Even before the world will look to the FIFA World Cup in Russia from June 15, 2018, the country will become the meeting place for the global construction equipment and technology industry: from June 5 to 8, 2018, bauma CTT RUSSIA – Russia’s most important trade fair for construction technology – will take place at the Moscow exhibition center IEC Crocus.
550 exhibitors from 30 nations have registered for this major event. Besides the “regular players” that have always showcased their products and services at the traditional event, there will again be some new additions. One example is thecompany Doka that will be at bauma CTT RUSSIA for the first time. And some exhibitors, for example XCMG, will make a comeback in Moscow in 2018 after a break of several years.
Nicely filled country pavilions
This year, the joint pavilions of major manufacturing nations are well attended, too. First and foremost, China’s pavilion with 111 exhibitors, followed by the German and Italian pavilions with 34 and 24 companies, respectively. The Finnish country booth pools the presentations of five players on the domestic market.
In addition to the mostly static presentation in the halls, the 2018 edition surface area of 3,000 square meters, visitors will be able to enjoy live
demonstrations of construction equipment. The suppliers Amkodor, John Deere, GEHL, Kobelco, Locust, Manitou, SDLG and Wacker Neuson will use this perfect occasion.
Building boom – not only in Moscow
One reason for the high participation certainly is the current upward trend in the Russian construction industry. The economic development agency of Germany – Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI) – refers to a “cautious spirit of optimism”. In Moscow alone – the venue of bauma CTT RUSSIA – there are plans for high investments: under the major urban redevelopment program, almost 5,200 prefabricated Khrushchyovka buildings in need of rehabilitation shall bedemolished to create 2.7 million square meters of new living space in the next years. And by 2020, the capital plans to invest €5.8 billion in road constructionsand €11.2 billion in the expansion of the Moscow Metro. Furthermore, Russian Railways are to start the construction of the Moscow-Kazan High-Speed Railway this year.
VDMA recognized turnaround in 2017
According to the German Engineering Federation (VDMA), Russia currently ranks ninth among the most important markets for German machine manufacturers, with a focus on construction and building material machines. Last year, the federation observed a turnaround: after four years that saw a downward trend, German companies could sell machinery and facilities worth €5.3 billion to Russia, i.e. 22.5 per cent more than in the previous year. The lecture and discussion event “Construction equipment industry in transformation: drivers of success” promises to provide in-depth and latest insights into the state and company strategies in relation to the Russian construction equipment market. Organized by bauma CTT RUSSIA and the Association of European Business (AEB), this event will take place on June 5 at 13:00. Speakers from politics and associations as well as discussants from the industry shall ensure a high degree of practical relevance. Representatives from for example Volvo, RM-Terex, Liebherr, John Deere, Chetra, JCB and Specavtoprom were invited. Some of them already confirmed their participation.
Professional capacity in WorldSkills demonstrations
Another topic area of bauma CTT RUSSIA 2018 will be the construction industry’s educational standards. Two WorldSkills demonstrations will make this aspect more vivid, competitive and entertaining. WorldSkills is an international performance comparison of young professionals in non-academic professions. At the trade fair’s outdoor area, the extended national WorldSkill teams will conduct open training and internal competitions in the two areas of competence “Concrete construction work” and “Heavy equipment maintenance”.
