Green construction vehicles offer assurances for the future: Ford Trucks

  • Ford Trucks’ official Emrah Duman expects commercial green construction vehicles market to grow
  • Development of environmentally-friendly vehicles critical as 2.7 million new 6+ trucks enter roads every year
  • Self-drive vehicles in future lifecycle plans, Duman reveals ahead of PMV Live 2015

1 October, Dubai – Emrah Duman, International Markets Director at Ford Trucks, has said that the global manufacturer’s new technology E6 Emission Ecotorq Engines will make be much more environmentally-friendly ahead of the launch of a new series of green trucks in 2016.
Speaking ahead of PMV Live 2015, which will be held at Dubai World Trade Centre during this coming November, he also revealed that the development of vehicles that use alternative fuels sources (LNG/CNG) is assuming importance in the company’s future product cycle plans.
“More than 2.7 million new 6+ trucks come onto the roads every year and we see vehicles with environmentally-friendly systems as providing assurances for our futures on account of their ability to reduce disturbances caused by pollution and high energy demands,” he said.
Duman also said that since construction business is paramount for a country’s growth to provide new living spaces for the increasing population, the market share for construction vehicles will continue to grow, making research and development paramount in meeting future demand.
“One of the challenges is that high technologies require more &D studies and investment. This is not only about engines, but the aerodynamics features of vehicles are important for better fuel consumption and our product development teams are working on a special new cab and vehicle design that minimises drag force on the vehicle – and in the process increasing fuel economy.”
Studies on self-drive products are also in the future cycle plans of Ford Trucks, according to Duman. These concepts are particularly relevant in the Tractor & Road Truck segment, which is used for domestic and international long-haulage and city distribution. It is also applicable for tough and risky construction in order to eliminate risks and driver misuse on working site.
These topics and others that are relevant to the GCC construction industry will be the focus of Ford Trucks’ exhibition at PMV Live 2015, one of the most important heavy construction machinery, plant equipment and construction vehicle events in the region, with 36,000 international visitors attending last year’s event and more visitors expected in 2015.
PMV Live 2015, together with The Big 5 Dubai 2015 and Middle East Concrete 2015, will run from November 23-26 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
