Neumünster. – The 60th NordBau in Neumünster presents from 9th to 13th September, 2015 on around 69,000 square meters in the outdoor area and over 20,000 square meters of hall space, a complete range of construction machinery, construction equipment, building materials and systems for residential, commercial and interior design in new construction and renovation.

In addition, an attractive show will be offered by the construction and municipal machinery and equipment for construction and craft. The North German classic trade fair – again booked out for the 14th time – expects more than 900 exhibitors from about 60,000 visitors.
This time the focus of the most successful trade fair for the entire construction process in Germany and Northern Europe is the “architect as the developer’s advocate”. There will be numerous exhibition areas and presentations on how architects and engineers find tailor-made solutions – from planning to implementation in new construction or in the renovation and modernization of residential property.
The Chamber of Architects and Engineers Schleswig-Holstein are also exhibitors. During the exhibition, Uwe Schüler, President of the Chamber, and his team want to draw attention to the role of their profession. They will highlight ways and means for the builder, for whom it is not easy as a layman, to have an overview of the construction’s forthcoming decisions. “The architect says, what one should be aware of when buying property or a plot of land. He knows how orders for craftsmen are tendered and awarded,” said the Chamber president. How to find solutions together with architects and engineers, the visitors can learn more about this in Hall 1 at the Chamber’s stand.

Another special topic in the program of events and also a focal point of the building policy in Schleswig-Holstein are the urgent bridge renovations as well as construction of new bridges in order to meet future traffic flows. A fast and high-quality renovation of dilapidated bridges will provide sufficient material for discussion during NordBau. “Most bridges are from the 50s and 60s. When these structures were designed the then applicable regulations and a certain increase in traffic were understandably taken into account as a basis. The today existing stresses and the future development of traffic, however, were by far underestimated,” said Torsten Conradt, Director of the State Office for Road Construction and Transport, Schleswig Holstein. In particular, the truck traffic has already risen sharply, a further increase of at least one third of the current stress is expected here in the next ten years, The Director mentioned in this context, the required maintenance of traffic links is a particular challenge for his company, and also for engineering and construction companies. Meanwhile, the planning of the re-building of the Rader High Bridge in the course of highway A7 over the Kiel Canal is now underway, as according to recalculation results a replacement will be required by 2026.
