PAWRS (Plant Waste and Recycling Show), Paignton, Devon, held its annual award ceremony last week (12th June) in a prestigious ceremony, hosted by Sky Sports TV Presenter John McDonald. NTM-GB secured a well-deserved win in the Waste and Recycling Vehicle of the Year category with its Polybody Plastic Body Vehicle.

NTM-GB Win Vehicle of the Year Award at PAWRS LtR Tim Prince, Paul Westley MD, Martin Jones and Eugene Wenger from NTM
This category is aimed at the specialist waste/recycling vehicle that has fully met users’ expectations and has seen increased take-up in the marketplace.
Here is what the Judges had to say about the winning vehicle With the plastic body of NTM’s Polybody, it can be mounted on almost any chassis. Added to which it is also fully recyclable in that the body’s life span is approximately 14 years, so the body is expected to outlive the vehicle on which it’s mounted which is five to seven years. According to NTM GB, the longevity of the body would technically allow the user to transfer it from one chassis to another. A worthy winner.”
Paul Westley NTM-GB’s managing director was thrilled to receive the award, he said, “ I am extremely pleased we have won the award for a second time in three years with another type of product from the NTM range, this I feel demonstrates the ability of NTM to offer bespoke solutions to the waste industry. We have all work very hard to merge LinkTip products into the NTM group without losing its identity and reputation for innovation and quality. A big thanks to PAWRS and all the staff which make this an excellent exhibition year on year despite the weather.”
The Polybody is made from tough, durable, polypropylene, which is a superior plastic with numerous qualities that include, a high heat resistance, which means that it will not be effected by the elements and is UV stable, it’s non-corrosive, extremely lightweight , non-staining and practically maintenance free.
NTM LinkTip’s Polybody trucks are unique in that they are 100% UK manufactured. All of the Polybodies are cut, welded and constructed by hand and then chassis mounted in the NTM LinkTip factory, based in Willenhall in the West Midlands.
Another huge plus is that the Polybody delivers a staggering improvement in payload. Figures based on the first model built show a massive 120% increase in available payload compared to a conventional steel body of a similar type on the same chassis.
For operators this obviously has a number of significant and tangible benefits. Firstly, operators will have the potential to more than double the load each vehicle can carry, meaning fewer journeys, better collection efficiency and a reduced carbon footprint.
This award winning vehicle will also be on display at several other UK exhibitions this year including Londonderry Garage Show 2013 Northallerton, North Yorks 10th – 11th July 2013 and the RWM NEC Birmingham 10th – 12th September 2013
