From October 18-20, UK Construction Week will take over the four halls of Birmingham’s NEC, bringing with it 1000’s of new and truly innovative products. To ensure visitors uncover the very best innovations on display, the organisers have created the Innovation Trail – a selection of cutting-edge products handpicked by its editorial committee.
One of the most exciting products at UK Construction Week will be brought by flooring expert, Energy 2016 Tech Partner and exhibitor Pavegen. As a pioneering clean-tech company, Pavegen is no stranger to invention and its new V3 flooring technology will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of this month’s event. The company supplies permanent and commercial smart-flooring solutions with three multi-functional component parts: floor, data and energy. It will be tiling a portion of the UK Construction Week’s floor, which leads up to a bar and using the kinetic energy created by the footfall to light up the bar.
Another cutting edge organisation, WikiHouse, will showcase a possible future for housebuilding at the Innovation Trail. The open source project for designing and building homes, provides an open platform for inventors, designers and citizens to build a global commons: a continuously improving library or ‘Wikipedia for things’, of low-cost, high-performance design solutions for housing, neighbourhoods and cities. Capitalising on three massive trends: open design, automation and digital manufacturing, WikiHouse will construct the frame for this year’s Smart Buildings Hub. The space will demonstrate how easily smart technology can be integrated within this open source construction system.
Nathan Garnett, Event Director for UK Construction Week commented: “We’ve been truly overwhelmed by the amount of innovation being brought to this year’s UK Construction Week. Now, we’ve hand picked the most exciting products and created the Innovation Trail, ensuring everyone gets the chance to witness the most exciting developments.”
Another firm showcasing exclusive technology, EcoVolt, will launch its self-heating paint, JouleTherm CeP at HVAC 2016. The JouleTherm heating system range is suitable for replacing old outdated storage heating or to simply add an efficient heating and control system to homes, offices or schools. EcoVolt will bring a full demonstration system to the show, letting visitors get up and close personal with its market leading innovation.
Bringing its award-winning materials to this year’s event, Adaptavate will be launching its first product, Breathaplasta at the Surface and Materials Show. Representing the latest technology in biocomposite building materials, Breathaplasta is a high performing internal plaster, which helps improve the environment in buildings, passively regulating moisture to help create healthier people in healthy, energy efficient buildings. The company’s founder, Tom Robinson, will also be on hand to deliver a presentation on Adaptavate’s approach to reducing the environmental impact of surface materials in the construction industry at the Surface and Materials Hub from 11:15-12:00 on the show’s second day.
Also at the Surface & Materials Show, will be a raft of leading designers, manufacturers and emerging talent, forming part of the trail. These include the likes of Grace Gallagher, who will be exhibiting her latest surfaces and objects for interiors. Others include Rachel Howarth, Studio Ilio, Anni Tavener and more.
In addition, there will be a host of other firms included in the Innovation such as RA Tech, Banbury, Union, Graphenstone, 3D Systems, Polyseam Ltd, Framery, Jigtech and g2 Energy.
