In addition, the event’s comprehensive seminar content has been specifically designed to boost industry productivity and profitability with a huge focus on skills, practical business advice and legislation updates. For instance, the Site Zone – taking place as part of the Build Show – is a dedicated area for installers and engineers helping them ‘Learn to Earn’. Offering a hands-on interactive experience with training, workshops and demonstrations on getting work, managing cash flow, making apprenticeships work, accessing government funding and practical ways to save time and money on site, the Site Zone will be a valuable resource to the conscientious installer.
Other seminars of particular interest will be bidding workshops, exploring opportunities in the self-build market and a communications master class to give SME builders the lowdown on PR, marketing and social media.
The commercial vehicle test drive feature also presents a unique opportunity to visitors attending the event, offering the chance to sample vehicles from a number of different manufacturers. Helping tradesmen find out which vehicle is best suited to their business needs as well as what gadgets and finance packages are available, the feature enables visitors to book a 30 minute test drive, completing a three mile test circuit in and around the NEC.
Richard Morey, Group Events Director at Media 10, the company producing UK Construction Week, commented: “Our aim for UK Construction Week is for it to be a worthwhile day out for professionals at every level in the industry. Because of this, we have specifically designed the content of the show to be as practical and relevant as possible. When this is combined with the special deals and calibre of exhibitors signed up to the show, the outcome is an event that is in every tradesmen’s best interest to attend.”
In addition to all the opportunities to learn and trade at the show, there is also plenty of opportunity to take advantage of the whole industry coming together to relax and network. UK Construction Week will host a casino night in partnership with Construction Enquirer and a beer festival to help visitors and exhibitors relax and unwind at the show.
The casino night will be held at the newly opened Genting International Casino at Resorts World Birmingham. The night offers a chance for visitors and exhibitors alike to relax with a few games of American Roulette, Blackjack, Baccarat or Electronic Roulette. There will also be a UK Construction Week Poker Tournament, with players competing to win the Prize Fund of £500 and help raise valuable funds for charity. Entry is just £10 and will go directly to the winner’s charity of your choice.
Opening at 12pm on each of the trade days (6 – 8 October), the beer festival will provide a more relaxed atmosphere in which to grab some refreshments and a bite to eat, or simply catch up with friends, colleagues and clients. With a wide range of traditional, local and rare craft ales on offer, plus a variety of entertainment and live music from across the UK, the beer festival will certainly be a welcome break at the end of a busy day.
Entry to the beer festival is free but early bird tickets are now on sale for £17.50, which includes three beers and a hot dog. Corporate packages are also available at £175 for a reserved VIP table for 10 people, including three beers and a hot dog each.
Bringing together nine shows under one roof, UK Construction Week will be the biggest construction trade event the UK has seen in years. Taking place at the Birmingham NEC from 6 – 11 October (with the trade only days from 6 – 8 October) the event will unite 1,000 exhibitors with an expected audience of 55,000 visitors.
Visitors will be able to attend the Build Show incorporating Civils Expo, Grand Designs Live, Timber Expo, the Surface and Materials Show, Energy 2015, Kitchens & Bathrooms Live, Plant & Machinery Live, HVAC 2015 and Smart Buildings 2015.
