Viatec 2015 cancelled

The continuation of the recession which hit the road construction industry convinced the organizers to cancel the 2015 edition of Viatec, the exhibition for road construction and infrastructure maintenance. Of course, this decision was taken after consulting with exhibitors and the most important companies which usually contribute to the organization of this exhibition. However, the 2016 edition planned in Innsbruck has been confirmed. It will be held together with “Innocom”, the exhibition for municipal suppliers.
Bolzano, September, 2014 – While last year 119 exhibitors distributed over a surface area of 5000 sqm informed around 2400 visitors about the most recent innovations in the sectors of road construction, road signs and others, thus contributing to the success of Viatec, unfortunately the Exhibition Management decided to cancel the 10th edition of Viatec 2015, because it cannot ensure the same level of quality which Bolzano is normally offering its partners.
However, this does not mean that the exhibition will be completely deleted from the fair agenda. In fact, if within a reasonable time frame, the economic conditions improve and if the various companies and partners involved deem it advisable to organize an industry-specific exhibition, then the next edition of Viatec, which celebrates its tenth anniversary, will certainly take place.
To cancel an already planned exhibition is always a very painful decision for all the parties involved. Indeed for many companies it can also entail very unpleasant consequences, as they will miss (at a time of severe economic crisis) a very precious opportunity to promote their professional skills and their innovations, to meet customers and suppliers, and to acquire new technical knowledge (as was possible in the previous editions thanks to the conferences dedicated to the Brenner Tunnel, to guided tours and educational courses on health and safety at work).
In the end, however, this difficult decision is also the logical consequence of a realistic assessment of the current economic situation. The survey distributed amongst visitors in 2013 had indeed highlighted the negative situation of the sector, to the extent that almost 60% of respondents complained about a sharp drop in orders and only 30% were confident about a recovery. The twin event in Innsbruck is however confirmed. This is the Innsbruck Viatec exhibition that has been alternatively organized in Tyrol for some years now and that was regularly organized last spring in association with the exhibition of municipal suppliers “Innocom” and that will be rescheduled in two years time, in spring 2016, as planned.
