"Heavy Equipment 2011" presented by Bauforum24

Excavators as heavy as three A380 Super jumbos – that’s what you can see in the new Bauforum24 Construction Equipment calendar for 2011. Following the huge success of the 2010 newcomer, “Heavy Equipment 2011” sets up the heavy machines in really special locations. This meant our team clocking up 75,000 kilometers to come up with 12 impressive motifs each with their own special aesthetics. The sold-out 2010 calendar proves that it doesn’t always have to be matter of just the naked truth. “Heavy Equipment 2011” presented by Bauforum24 – the online portal for the building and construction equipment industry – again brings together 12 exceptional construction equipment images. Whether it was, for example, the 800 ton monster excavator in Australia, the wheel loader operating 1,000 meters underground or the dumper in the Nevada desert, these motifs and backgrounds to be photographed involved André Brockschmidt’s team traveling across three continents – including the road trip through the US from New York to Los Angeles – in 17 days. This entailed the team transferring its seat of operations without any further ado to a roomy camper. Our calendar fans were kept up to date with video blogs made on route (see: www.equipment-calendar.com). No small wonder then that at the end of production around 25,000 kms had been clocked up overland.

The 2010 success story was certainly based on the complex composition and photo touch-ups. This time was no different with more than 300 hours invested in post-production. What extensive image processing has produced is a look which – in a similar way to its predecessor – ranges from those heavy machine aesthetics to landscape fascination.

Just as in 2010, a Bauforum24 TV film team documented the whole scope of calendar production. Along with the making of videos providing background and additional information on machines and operators, video blogs featuring anecdotes and incidents during the shootings were, for the first time, transmitted.
