The Construction Plant-hire Association – ‘The Future of Construction Plant Hire’ conference in 2014 – with guest speakers including, Philip White HSE.
Planning and organising is well underway for the CPA Plant Conference which will take place on 23 October 2014 at Wyboston Lakes Conference Centre, near St Neots, Cambridgeshire. The purpose of the Conference is to become the principal point of discussion for construction plant issues in the UK.
The focus of the event is not just on the safe use of machines that we have now, but also about understanding and influencing the future of construction plant hire. The HSE’s Philip White has confirmed he will speak at the conference; Philip was Chief Inspector of Construction from 2009 – 2013, and now will be acting as interim Chief Inspector until 2015, following Heather Bryant moving on to pastures new. John Carroll – HS2 Construction and Logistics Deputy – will speak about HS2’s planning and expectations for construction plant.
Steve Hesketh MGF will be chairing a panel discussion on BIM (Building Information Modelling) and its impact on hire and Tim Watson will talk about the latest work on Ground Conditions for construction plant;
Other subjects include; how the industry can address a skills shortage; and machine developments including autonomous machines; as well as safety and health issues such as operator competence, and public health issues including emissions and road transport.
The event is being promoted to UKCG and CECA contractors, as well as CPA members and other bodies in construction, and to public and private sector clients: attendance is open to anyone who has an interest in, or influence over, supplying or procuring plant.
Delegates can find out more and register on the CPA website and register at www.cpa.uk.net/conference. An exhibition is planned alongside the conference to give delegates the opportunity to engage with product and service suppliers. See you on the 23rd October – one conference not to be missed!
