The EHS team are delighted to confirm that last week’s 2014 Executive Hire Show attracted a record 1,908 relevant hire industry visitors.
This net figure excludes non-exhibiting suppliers, others – like consultants and training providers, as well as Press and PR. The total number of visitors scanned was 2,472 and this figure also excludes all exhibitor personnel.
The record 1,908 relevant hire visitors represents an 18% increase over last year’s attendance of 1,612 – a true sign that the green shoots of recovery are pushing through.
The EHS team also confirm that the show attracted both senior executives and purchasing management from all the Top Ten national hirers, including an astonishing 120 executives from the industry’s No.1 hirer, Speedy.
Executive Hire Show director Robert Aplin said “It goes without saying that independent hirers continue to be the lifeblood of the Show. 85% of all relevant hire visitors were from independent operations.
These attendance figures show that passionate hirers throughout the UK and Ireland continue to place high value on attending their industry’s established annual event, as an unrivalled opportunity to make purchasing plans for the year ahead.”
Robert concluded, “We would like to thank all innovative suppliers for their support in attracting passionate hirers to our industry’s national event at the Ricoh Arena. It was a phenomenal show with both exhibitors and visitors upbeat and positive – there really was a buzz around the arena.
We are already looking forward to next year’s show and the 2015 dates are Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th February.”
Exhibitors reported some excellent deals being done at the show and a high level of interest from hirers nationwide. The mood was buoyant and a good indication that the prolonged recession of recent year’s is over.
Manitou made its second appearance at the show, sales manager Paul Bidwell said, “We had a ‘super-sized’ stand this year and it’s been really really good for us. There’s plenty of optimism around and we have seen a good mix of people. The show is well organised by a professional team and we look forward to 2015.”
Phil Holman, director Knott Avonride also had a great show. “We have been ‘mad busy’ and have seen a large number of quality visitors. We also had excellent interaction with fellow exhibitors and have been working with a number of them who have been using our products. We can confirm that we will be back next year.”
Andy Munford director Shindaiwa said, “The show fulfilled and exceeded all our expectations, there was great interest in all our range of products, I can honestly say it was our most successful EHS show to date!”
Andy added, “We have also secured substantial orders. Martin Plant Hire (Glasgow) placed an order for 15 Power Centre Generators in a deal worth £120K.”
First time exhibitor Cubb Engineering took a stand in the new atrium area, company director Colin Ferguson said, “It’s gone nuclear! We sold 15 machines on the first day and another five on Thursday. Hirers that could not get to talk to us on the stand, as we were mobbed, have been calling us to place orders. I have never been to a show like it! We only built the machine six weeks ago!
Another exhibitor who chose to remain anonymous said, “It’s been five years of famine – now it’s a feeding frenzy.”
Takeuchi’s managing director; Tomonori Tamaru reported a good return to the show after a year’s absence and plenty of interest in the new Takeuchi machine.
Thwaites sales director, Ian Brown said, “We saw an excellent level of visitors it’s been a really positive show. The mood was confident and hirers are buying again – we have taken orders for machines – therefore happy! See you again next year!”
Robert Brown, former MD of Ammann Equipment, and now managing director of the newly formed AY Equipment reported, “Not only was the EHS this year an excellent platform to promote the new company name and brand we did some very good deals. These deals were not ‘stage managed’ but were actual orders taken at the show from visitors walking onto our stand. We have sold in excess of 20 machines. We also saw many new faces too including owner operators out buying machines.”
Over the next few days the EHS team will be updating the website with more news from the show including video footage, details of awards won and the hire award winners – so keep popping back on the Executive Hire Show website for all the inside gossip!
