Hyundai’s latest addition to the new HX excavator range, the HX380 L, has an operating weight of 38,920 kg. This machine is one of 13 new Hyundai HX crawler excavators, offering customers an even greater choice with this new weight class. An ideal machine for bulk earthmoving, large civil engineering and quarrying work, this new machine is fitted with the latest Stage IV engine technology, which meets the latest emissions standards.
Cummins engine provides the lowest cost of operation in its class
At the heart of the HX380 L is the low emission, Cummins QSL9 Stage IV engine, which offers a rated net power output of 344 Hp (257 kW). This engine features the Xtra-High Pressure Injection (XPI) fuel system, which delivers a constant stream of pressurized fuel across all engine rpm, providing cleaner combustion and improved engine response. This engine is designed to provide the lowest cost of operation in its class, offering customers the most economical and quiet operating machine, with exceptional power and performance.
Fuel Efficiency – systems to reduce consumption and engine emissions
Hyundai HX series excavators are engineered to be extremely fuel efficient. New innovations like the ECO Gauge enables economic operation of the machines which help to conserve fuel and reduce the impact on the environment.
The gauge level and colour displays engine torque and fuel efficiency level on the touchscreen monitor. In addition, the gauge indicates the status of fuel consumption such as average rate and the total amount of fuel consumed. The HX380 L can offer a reduction in fuel consumption of up to 19% – depending on the type of operation – in comparison to Hyundai’s 9A-series of machines.
There is easy access to DEF/AdBlue® Supply System. The DEF/AdBlue® tank is easy to reach when it needs refilling. Warning of overfill is given by a red lamp signal. The DEF/AdBlue® supply module is attached on the side of the fuel tank for easy maintenance and filter replacement.
HX Series Minimises Equipment Input and Output Control Signals
Like existing models in the HX series, the HX380 L features Hyundai’s new Variable Power Control. Using this system, the operator can set their own preferences for boom or swing priority, power mode selection, including three working modes, P (Power), S (Standard), and E (Economy), and optional work tool settings at the touch of a button, to suit the task in hand. Optimum precision has been achieved in the redesigning of the hydraulic system. Improved pump flow control reduces flow when controls are not being used to minimize fuel consumption. Thanks to improved hydraulic valves, precision-designed variable piston pumps, fine-touch pilot controls, and enhanced travel functions, the operator has super fine control of the machine during all operations.
The electronic fan clutch reduces noise during operation by precisely controlling rpm depending on the hydraulic oil and coolant temperature of the working vehicle and minimises fuel consumption.
New State-of-the Art Cabin for the Ultimate in Operator Comfort
The HX380 L features a state of the art new cab, which has been increased in size by 13% – this ultra-comfortable new cabin has been well received by operators around the world. Cab comfort doesn’t get much better than this, starting with the fully adjustable suspension seat and armrests which can accommodate operators of all sizes.
The fully automatic new high capacity air-conditioning system maintains a comfortable working environment throughout the day. Other cab amenities include a transparent polycarbonate glass sun roof, with integrated easy to control sun visor, and an advanced new audio system with USB player, AM/FM stereo and MP3 player, plus remotely located controls, that make it so much easier for the operator to control. In addition, operators can talk using a built-in Bluetooth hands-free mobile phone system. The cab suspension mount reduces the noise inside the cabin.
The HX series can also be equipped with an optional boom floating control using arm-in and arm-out operation only, allowing stable operation even in high-load work.
Enhanced Instrument Panel for Easier Monitoring
The advanced 8-inch-wide new in cab touch screen monitor displays information that reflects what you would see on a smart phone and is 30% larger than previous models. The main view of the screen can be adjusted according to the preferences of the operator and is also extremely easy to read. It can be controlled via touch control and/or new haptic controller.
The monitor allows the operator to select his personal machine preferences, including the aforementioned work modes, self-diagnostics, maintenance check lists and start-up machine security codes. In addition, this screen is also used to select and view the rear view camera, further enhancing the machines excellent all round visibility.
These new machines also feature Hyundai’s Hi-Mate remote management system, which provides operators and dealer service personnel direct access to vital service and diagnostic information on the machine from any computer with internet access. Users can pinpoint machine location using digital mapping and set machine work boundaries, reducing the need for multiple service calls. Hi- Mate saves time and money for the owner and dealer by promoting preventative maintenance and reducing machine downtime.
Reliability and Serviceability
Enhanced reliability features on the HX series include reinforced longer-life pins and bushes coupled with wear-resistant polymer shims and newly designed cab shock mounts with dual shock absorption for reduced vibration and noise, which also improves operator comfort. Serviceability enhancements include ground-level access to the fuel filter and convenient exterior access to the cab air filter. Additional guard rails provide greater safety while performing maintenance and inspections on the upper structure deck.
Reinforced Durability
The upper and lower structure and attachments of the HX series have a far higher durability than demanded on the site, proved through numerous tests, including road tests and virtual simulation. The wear resistance of the bucket has been improved by use of new material.
Almost Doubled Durability of the machine front for HX380 L
The durability of the arm and boom has been reinforced by 1.5 times (compared to 9A-series). Principal dimensions have been increased at the most critical section while their total weights were kept the same by means of structural optimization. A completely new welding technique, which was developed to remove the back plate, also contributed considerably to the improvements of the HX380 L. The new attachments have been proved to last at least 1.8 times longer than those for 9- series.
New, Exclusive Safety Features
New safety features include an optional AAVM (Advanced Around View Monitoring) System for 360° – surround virtual operating view – which displays on the 8 inch cluster-monitor. The system, exclusive to Hyundai, consists of an Around View Monitoring (AVM) system that give a 360°- surround virtual operating view and an Intelligent Moving Object Detection (IMOD) system that senses and warns the operator when objects come within working distance of the machine.
Other safety features include a safety lock valve for the boom cylinder with a customisable overload warning device and a safety lock valve for the arm cylinder.
