The first edition of ConBuild Indonesia 2011 and Renewables Indonesia 2011 drew more than 200 exhibitors from 22 countries and over 5,500 quality trade and professional visitors during its staging from April 13 to 16 at the Jakarta International Expo.
Organized by MMI Asia Pte Ltd, the Asian subsidiary of Messe Muenchen International, the event was formally opened by Minister of Public Works HE Ir. Djoko Kirimanto. MMI organized these trade fairs with the strong endorsement of the Ministry of Public Works, the Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Industry.
“I would like to stress the importance of a positive climate for the construction industry in Indonesia to ensure the success of infrastructure development,” said Minister Djoko Kirimanto. He also noted that the opportunity for investments in Indonesian infrastructure in the decades ahead will be enormous.
Due to the rapid expansion of Indonesia ’s infrastructure, the government has identified the need to have access to the latest trends the world has to offer through a specialized international platform such as ConBuild and Renewables Indonesia .
The value of Indonesia ’s construction industry is expanding rapidly, driven by investments in transportation and especially infrastructure, as well as industrial construction related to the country’s revitalizing mining sector. Growth over the period 2011 to 2015 is forecast at an average of 7.2% annually.
ConBuild Indonesia and Renewables Indonesia are comprehensive, specialized platforms for construction, building, mining, green energy and environmental technology uniquely developed for Indonesia by MMI as the twin foundations of the MMI Infrastructure Initiative.
This premier international trade fair covered more than 15,000 square meters of indoor and outdoor space and included country participation from Australia , China , Germany , Korea and Singapore . Germany also sent foreign trade delegations consisting of trade and technical experts.
Exhibitor response to the mega show was very positive. The high visitor quality was evident in the high volume of business conducted throughout the shows and the number of deals closed on the spot.
“The quality of visitors has been fantastic, exceeding our expectations, and it has been great to be able to talk directly with the actual decision makers,” said Gary Cowley, director of PT Vermeer Indonesia . “Overall it has been a very successful show and we will definitely be here again.”
Steve Kentjana Putra, head of business development at PT Berca Mandiri, said he appreciated the support the fair was giving the building and construction sectors. “ConBuild is a success for the industry,” he said.
Hooray Engineering Pte Ltd was an exhibitor at Renewables Indonesia . “This event is helping us to meet customers and to know the Indonesian market,” said assistant manager Liong Sok Jen. “It is an ideal platform to reach potential sales, and it’s a very fruitful experience to be there.”
Held concurrently with ConBuild Indonesia 2011 and Renewables Indonesia 2011 were a two-day conference and technical presentations. These provided leading-edge information, industry knowledge and new solutions while serving as vehicles for partnerships. The conference also provided a platform for G2B and B2B discussions about accelerating Indonesia ’s sustainable economic development.
The conference, attended by 225 delegates, highlighted critical issues, updates and developments. It also outlined the government’s roadmaps for construction, clean energy and mining, which constituted the three main tracks of the conference.
The technical presentations highlighted new technologies and solutions in the construction, building and mining sectors. Participants also learned about the latest industry opportunities.
Ronald Unterburger, Managing Director and CEO Asia Pacific of MMI Asia Pte Ltd, said ConBuild is a regional brand concept that covers the interrelated sectors of construction, building, mining, green energy resources and the environment.
“Renewables has been developed as a progression from ConBuild, and we are in the process of developing other specialist trade fairs which will further help support the infrastructure development of Indonesia .”
“I am confident in saying that based on this year’s success, we are going to see a larger and most influential return of the trade fairs in 2012.”
ConBuild Indonesia 2012 and Renewables Indonesia 2012 will be held at the Jakarta International Expo on May 2-5. Many exhibitors from this year indicated their participation or had reserved space for the event next year.
